I Knew He Could Draw, but......

I always knew my son Justin could draw, but I have to say, this one has blown me away!  So much that today, I decided to post it on my blog.  I've already posted it on Facebook a few times but I just felt like showing it off again today!  He drew this for his girlfriend Tiffany for her birthday!  How sweet is that?  Not everyone's boyfriend can draw them a portrait.  Ya, I know, I am his mom and I am a bit biased, but, you gotta give credit where credit is due.  Even if it is your own kid!
I paired it up with the original from so you could see just how close it really is!  I guess you could say, I'm a real proud momma!  Well done my son!

Wordless Wednesday!!

Meet My Nana's Dog Nikki!
This is Nikki pre-haircut and post-haircut!  He has the biggest rabbit-like ears I have ever seen on such a little dog!  He is so ugly he is cute, but he also keeps my Nana fit because he gives her a reason to go for a long walk everyday.

So, I know I Really Shouldn't Have...

...BUT...last week when I was at my Nana's house, I couldn't help myself.  I snooped.  YES, I said it..I snooped.  Not normally my sort of thing, but you know, Nana's have all sorts of really neat things that are usually hidden away where no one can see them. I'm not sorry I did.  I found photo's of her that I've never seen before, and HOLY MOLY!  She was a knock out! Now keep in mind one thing, these pictures were taken of pictures via my cellphone so the quality is a bit lacking.
This is my mom as a child and my Nana.
I'm not sure how old my mother was here in this picture, but I'd say its safe to guestimate that she is between the ages of 5-7.

Nana's Passport picture from the early 1950's.
There were many more pictures I would love to get my hands on, however I was limited for time. She was going to be back from the salon any minute, and I didn't want to get caught being a Snoop!

March Photoaday Challenge!!

Ever hear of the Book Divergent by Veronica Roth?

You may have noticed the Insurgent countdown widget on the right hand side of my blog.  That is me showing my excitement for the upcoming addition to the Divergent Trilogy that is currently being written. Book one, Divergent was released in May of 2011.  It is a new and exciting book series by the brand new author, Veronica Roth.

After I was finished with the Twilight series and the Harry Potter Series, I found myself looking for a replacement. I stumbled upon a recommendation for Divergent on a website dedicated to people who love to read.

This novel is about Beatrice, a sixteen year old girl, is reaching adulthood. In this dystopian society, each teenager takes an aptitude test that will tell them which faction they are the most like. Factions are what separates the societies. You are expected to choose the faction you grew up in but, if you don't, you turn away from your family forever. The five factions are; Candor (the honest), Abnegation (the selfless), Dauntless (the brave), Amity (the peaceful), and Erudite (the intelligent). Beatrice never felt like she belonged to the faction she grew up in so she is faced with making the decision that could change her life forever. Secrets she discovers about herself along the way may lead to her being factionless or even dead!

Beatrice is a character I have come to love because of her inner strength and the self awareness that she has developed by the time you get to the end of the book. This is a page turning, exciting book that has left me waiting in suspense for the next installment!
So the countdown is on! On May 1, 2012, in just 60 days, the second book of the series, Insurgent is being released!
